There are few things WWE likes more than signing national heroes of former members of the armed forces, because it gives their audiences the chance to shout USA a lot, which it seems is a common hobby in America.
One of the most recent examples of WWE's "look, we signed that guy you like" is Olympic gold medalist Gable Steveson, who was not only signed by WWE, but was also drafted to Raw in last year's WWE draft, despite never having had a televised match.
However, since the draft, things have been very quiet on the Gable Steveson front, and Dave Meltzer has revealed on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio that the lack of Steveson news could be a very bad sign.
He said:
"I have not heard how he [Gable] is doing, but I will say that it's probably a very bad sign that I haven't. I had heard – and he had been told – right after WrestleMania, and we've had many months since WrestleMania. So I am guessing that he is not ready yet, and that's the hold up."
Of course this is far from a confirmation, but the lack of hype for Steveson, given how much WWE likes to hype American heroes has definitely been noticeable.
If we hear anything more about Gable Steveson and his WWE role, we will of course let you know.
