Ronda Rousey wants more opportunities for the women.
Rousey won the WWE SmackDown Women's Championship at WWE WrestleMania Backlash, defeating Charlotte Flair in an "I Quit" match. Rousey vs. Flair was the only women's match on the show, which Rousey wasn't thrilled about.
"I wanted to call out WWE for only having one women's match out of six matches at Backlash. We're more than one-sixth of the company and I need to do my part and make sure more women are at the forefront. Also, I don't want to say 'women's' in the title anymore. I think they were kind of resistant to taking it out. I was like, 'can I just not have to say it?' That's kind of where it's at," she said on her latest vlog, which was filmed just after WrestleMania Backlash.
Rousey then ran through the SmackDown women's roster, noting there weren't many women on the roster. She also reiterated that she wanted more opportunities for women outside of title storylines.
Since WrestleMania Backlash, which took place in May, WWE had made many additions to the women's roster as Triple H has taken over creative duties. Bayley, IYO SKY, Dakota Kai, and Candice LeRae have all returned or joined the main roster.
Rousey is the reigning WWE SmackDown Women's Champion after winning the title back from Liv Morgan at WWE Extreme Rules. You can read Rousey's pitch for the finish by clicking here.
