WWE teases character change for two veterans, comedy gimmick dropped

This week on Main Event, WWE began teasing a change for two veterans of the company.

There was a serious segment between veterans Shelton Benjamin and R-Truth. Benjamin asked Truth if he knows why he (Shelton) takes things so seriously. He said that he used to be just like Truth and he's already had his fun. He said that veterans told him to take things seriously because he may never get another big opportunity.

Benjamin listed some of the titles he's held and before he left he said, "I used to be the Gold Standard Shelton Benjamin but now I'm just Shelton."

Benjamin and Truth began teaming last week and internally they are listed as a tag team so whatever is happening here appears to be a long-term thing.
