Bret Hart On His Rivalry With Shawn Michaels

Bret Hart says it's a shame that his feud with Shawn Michaels derailed their ability to work together on-screen because they could have kept wrestling each other for the next decade.
The rivalry between the two legends is one of the most notorious in wrestling history. The real-life animosity between the duo, along with Hart's impending departure from WWE, led to the Montreal Screwjob. The incident burnt the bridge between "The Hitman" and the company, and he didn't fully return until 2010, years after he had a stroke that severely impacted his health.
But if things had gone down differently, the former world champion believes there was plenty of material left on the table regarding his feud with Michaels.
"It's a shame that things got off-track with Shawn and we never got to really finish telling the stories that we could have told," Hart said WWE Rivals on A&E. "Me and Shawn could have wrestled one time every year for the next 10 years and they'd have been the biggest matches in history. It's a shame that that opportunity was squandered last, probably by both of us."
Likewise, Michaels stated that he'd like to go back in time and avoid the mistakes he made. However, he's pleased with the way his life turned out.
"Absolutely, of course, I would love to go back and not make any of the mistakes that I made. But then, I have to see where I'm at now, and I'm overjoyed with having come out on the other side," Shawn said of his feud with Bret Hart.
Michaels remains actively involved behind the scenes with WWE NXT 2.0. Meanwhile, Hart recently stated that while there are things he'd like to do in AEW, he's happy at home. You can see his comments by clicking here.
