There's a lot of smoke to the rumors about Bray Wyatt returning to WWE.
As noted earlier this week, Fightful Select reported that Wyatt's name has been brought up recently. The cited someone in the company saying the following about Wyatt: "I can't speak for him, but I know I've heard his name brought up, and I don't know how you couldn't feel better about coming in now if you were him?"
Additionally, it was reported that several current wrestlers have said that they would go "to bat" for Wyatt but they don't believe that he would need that to be brought back. The belief is that Triple H is operating with a "clean slate" and the same grudges that were held under the old Vince McMahon regime would not apply here.
During a PWTorch.com audio show, Wade Keller confirmed the reporting on Wyatt and took it a step further by saying that he is very likely to return. He said, "I can back up Fightful's reporting that Bray is likely back in WWE soon."
Keller is referring to Fightful reporting that higher-ups in WWE believe that the company is more likely to get Wyatt back. Prior to Triple H taking over as Head of Creative, those chances were slim because of the way the company handled Wyatt's departure.
Last year, Vince McMahon considered Wyatt to be "done" with WWE and there was a narrative being pushed that "came from those who worked directly with McMahon" about Wyatt having a so-called "bad attitude." Additionally, Fightful reported that "There were also several other instances of rumors started within that circle to ease the heat off of WWE for releasing him."
McMahon reportedly said derogatory things about Wyatt's physique as well and the feeling is that negativity towards him came after Wyatt pushed back on bad creative. Presumably, all of the negativity from both sides would go away now that Triple H is running things backstage.
Wyatt has kept a low profile since leaving WWE. He has done some work in Hollywood and he appeared at WrestleCon in Dallas but he hasn't done much else in the public eye. When he was in WWE he was one of the top paid stars in the company and, as Dave Meltzer reported, his asking price to wrestle elsewhere was high, which might explain why he hasn't popped up in AEW.
Wyatt has talked about eventually stepping into the ring again and his father Mike Rotunda confirmed in an interview earlier this year that both his sons were probably not done with wrestling.
Mike Rotunda said, "They're definitely not maybe done. I don't know, they're kind of got their foot in and going with a couple different things, trying to see what's available. So, you know, maybe you'll see them back. Maybe you won't, I don't know yet, but I don't want to speak for them either because I know they're trying to reach out and get some different things going."
