With WWE's Money in the Bank rapidly approaching, fans can bank on a couple of certainties: there'll be plenty of excitement and, of course, ladders. What more could you want?
The event, taking place at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas Saturday, can be streamed live on Peacock, with the pre-show beginning at 7 p.m. ET. While the entire match card promises to be exciting, fans will be especially pumped for the signature Money in the Bank ladder matches – one each for male and female Superstars – which will feature seven competitors fighting tooth and nail against each other for a chance to grab the Money in the Bank briefcase dangling above the ring. Whoever can ascend one of the multiple ladders in play to snag the prize will secure a guaranteed contract for a championship title shot, to be cashed in at a time and place of the holder's choosing.
The Money in the Bank event first started off as a single match at WrestleMania 21 in 2005 but blossomed in 2010 into the annual extravaganza that WWE fans enjoy today.
Here's what's on tap:
Raw Women's Championship: Bianca Belair vs. Carmella
Bianca Belair will defend her Raw Women's Championship title against Carmella: Belair was initially supposed to fight Rhea Ripley, but Ripley has been sidelined with an injury and hasn't been medically cleared to compete. So a five-way match was organized on Raw last Monday and Carmella beat out Alexa Bliss, Liv Morgan, Asuka and Becky Lynch to earn this shot at the title.
SmackDown Women's Championship: Ronda Rousey vs. Natalya
This should be an interesting one as Natalya has vowed to be the first woman to make Rousey tap out. Can she do it? Adding to the drama is the pair's back and forth jabs on social media leading up to their bout (and Natalya impersonating Rousey on Smackdown June 24), so this should have plenty of excitement.
Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship: The Usos vs. The Street Profits
The Street Profits are looking to break up The Bloodline's reign and become WWE's undisputed Tag Team Champions in the process. The Usos, of course, beat out RK-Bro in May to unify the Raw and SmackDown tag team titles, following in the footsteps of their Bloodline compatriot Roman Reigns, who unified the WWE and Universal Championships earlier this year. The Street Profits then beat the Usos in a championship contender match in early June, setting the stage for what promises to be an epic showdown.
United States Championship - Theory vs. Bobby Lashley
Theory and Lashley have been feuding a lot recently. Lashley embarrassed Theory during a pose-off on Raw June 13, which prompted the U.S. Champion to squirt baby oil in his eyes. But no matter: the following week, Lashley defeated Chad Gable and Otis, then Theory himself, to earn a title shot Saturday.
Men's Money in the Bank Ladder Match
It'll be a star-studded fight fo the briefcase on the men's side. Seth Rollins was the first male Superstar to secure a spot in this coveted match by beating out AJ Styles on Raw June 14. Soon after, Drew McIntyre and Sheamus both nabbed spots on SmackDown and Omos beat Riddle in a qualifying match on Raw. Sami Zayn secured a slot on the June 24 edition of Smackdown, and Riddle fought his way into the match during the most recent WWE Raw, leaving one slot yet to be decided.
Women's Money in the Bank Ladder Match
It'll be no less dramatic on the women's side, with Lacey Evans, Alexa Bliss, Liv Morgan, Raquel Rodriguez and Asuka among the initial qualifying group. They were joined Friday by Shotzi, who beat Tamina on Smackdown; Becky Lynch secured the final spot, triumphing over Nikki A.S.H., Xia Li, Tamina, Shayna Baszler and Doudrop in a "last chance" battle royal.
Catch Money in the Bank on Saturday, July 2, at 8 ET/5 PT, streaming live on Peacock.
