ODB describes how Triple H encouraged her to sign with TNA during her days in OVW.
ODB previously worked for OVW when the promotion was WWE's developmental company. She was the inaugural OVW Women's Champion, and she was a featured member of the roster. But WWE higher-ups reportedly didn't think she fit in with the Divas division. Rather than sticking around, ODB left OVW and joined TNA, where she went on to become a four-time Women's Knockouts Champion, among other accolades. According to ODB, this career-changing move was inspired by Triple H.
Speaking with Jon Poz on The Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling Podcast, ODB recalled the advice Triple H gave her many years ago after he watched her perform. She noted that he encouraged her to go to TNA because he thought it'd be in her best interest to do so.
"He watched me perform, and I was so nervous to like go up and talk to him. So I go up and talk to him, introduce myself, and he's like, 'I love the character'. He's like, 'Damn, too bad you weren't in the DX days', you know? And he's like, 'I love it'. But unfortunately, The top guys are not like, and obviously Vince did not like myself or my character and he was like, 'Take that opportunity you have for TNA. I think that'd be very good for your career'. So thanks Triple H. He could have said, 'Oh no, stay here kid, see what works.' But, nope, he said, 'Go, go. Do it,'" ODB said.
In the same interview, ODB reflected on her career and discussed her new book, among other highlights.
ODB previously stated that the door is always open for her regarding potentially going to WWE, but she hasn't knocked on it.
